Mr. Maat brings 10 years of engineering experience in the management and design of environmental pollution control technologies, wastewater treatment and energy recovery projects. His work experience includes professional engineering oversight for DL Services, a leader in the field of residential oil spill remediation, where he has provided oversight for over 80 projects. Mr. Maat also has worked concurrently as a senior engineer first for HMM Envirotech, and then with Maat Environmental Engineering Corp., companies that specialize in the environmental remediation of brownfield sites. His work involves treatment concept development, air pollution monitoring and assessment, regulatory permitting, remediation system design, soil and groundwater sampling, laboratory quality assurance and quality control assessment and CAD drafting. Derek also has extensive technical report writing experience gained through writing his MASc. thesis, remediation action plans, reports used as expert legal testimony, site assessments and proposals including detailed cost estimates.
